will-and-I

My name is Juliet. I started this blog to stay connected to my family and friends that live around the globe, to make new friends and to help me do art again. I grew up in the United States and Canada and now reside in Vancouver, BC. I did my post secondary education in Art and Psychology here in BC and now I stay at home with my 2 young boys and play play play (and try to stay sane!)
I am a mother. A wife. A woman. A world citizen. A lover of unity among all peoples, races, cultures, religions and sexes. An advocate for positive change. A member of The Baha’i Faith.

Hoogli defined: The word hoogli comes from the Danish word ‘hygge’ and the Norwegian word ‘koselig’ which I have adapted to english spelling. It means anything that is cozy, warm, beautiful and a delight to your soul.

    Hello Juliet,

My 6 year old daughter Ashley and I began searching the internet for some directions on how to make a very simple hand sewn bear, that children can learn to sew with, or “pal” as Ashley calls them.

We stumbled onto your website. What a lovely site. So well done with so many wonderful projects!

We LOVE LOVE LOVE, the dancing kitties, bear, and our favorite “My Left Foot”.

For a couple of “girls” that aren’t feeling to swell today with a cough from a rough bout of seasonal allergies, you have “inspired us” with a project for us to do today at home!

I am a professional musician that took time off to be at home with Ashley after she was born. Now, she is in the 1st grade, and I am looking to begin performing. Finding your website and reading about you and olee, was a joy to the both of us. You are so creative!

I hope that you pursue writing a book one day containing things on your website. You have such a gift for sharing with others what you have created in your life with you child, olee; and your documentation on how you arrived at the place where you created all of the wonderful pieces that you have.

You communicate your activities so well, particularly to mothers such as myself. I surely can’t be the only person who has suggested that you write a book! However, I do hope that you pursue such a project (if you haven’t done so already) in the future.

You come across as such a personable, accessible, person, someone that every mother would love to meet; as well as someone who is devoted to “your” olee! You possess just the right touch, with regard to being open, without giving away too much of her personal life…something that one has to watch and becareful of these days, sad to say.

Thank you for such a wonderful website! We are so glad that we found it, and are looking forward to making our own version of the”dancing kitties”, as well as Ashley’s “Left Foot”!

Such wonderful ideas that come across with a great amount of warmth! We can’t thank you enough!

Best of everything to you and your family!

    Sincerely,

    Darren and Ashley Uhlenhake

Sorry I’m late, but found your post by searching google for ‘koselig’. Interesting subject and I do agree with your ‘definition’ as I am from Norway. My wife from US, have made a post about it on my blog:

Hi, I just left a message about your felt cupcakes. I just discovered your site today. I was just thinking that I would make my mother a dozen cupcakes for her birthday (May 13) and Mother’s Day. A very long time ago I bought a felt candy corn toy (about 7″ by 3″) at a Hallmark store, and my mother kept it after I left home. She gets it out every Halloween. One night I was visiting her, got the idea to make a companion to the candy corn toy, so I bought some yellow, white, orange, and black felt, waited until she went to bed, then went totally nuts! i stayed all night, and in the morning she awoke to find a dozen candy corns on her hearth – and I made two of them with the black felt instead of the yellow felt, plus made them with little tuxedos and mustaches! She got a kick out of them, and gave most of them away to family and friends – my aunt still gets hers out every Halloween! So my thinking is, if I make her a dozen cupcakes, then she can give 11 away! Many, many thanks for the idea!
